Level 2 NZ Certificate in Electricity Supply - Electrical Works
The New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply (Introductory) (Level 2) – Electrical Works strand is a foundation qualification for those entering the electricity supply industry. It equips trainees with the essential knowledge and practical skills to work safely under supervision across generation, transmission, and distribution environments. The programme covers key industry legislation, standards, and hands-on electrical work practices, and meets the safety training requirements of the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) for a Trainee Limited Certificate. It also provides a clear pathway into higher-level qualifications such as Line Mechanic, Cable Jointing, and other specialist roles within the industry.
Level 4 NZ Certificate in Electricity Supply - Cable Jointing
The New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply (Cable Jointing High Voltage) (Level 4) is designed for people working toward becoming qualified cable jointers in New Zealand’s electricity supply industry. The qualification develops the practical skills and technical knowledge required to install, joint, terminate, maintain and repair low- and high-voltage electricity supply cables and associated equipment. Learners gain hands-on experience working safely across distribution networks while following industry procedures, legislation and best practice.
Level 4 NZ Certificate in Electricity Supply Cable Jointing - Endorsed Strand 33kV
The optional 33kV strand is designed for qualified cable jointers who need to extend their skills to work on high-voltage cable systems operating above 11kV and up to 33kV. It develops the specialist practical skills and technical knowledge required to prepare, joint, terminate, maintain and repair 33kV electricity supply cables safely and effectively. Completion of this strand recognises advanced cable-jointing capability and supports an application to the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) for a 33kV endorsement.
Level 4 NZ Certificate in Electricity Supply - Fault Response and Network Switching
The New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply (Fault Response and Switching) (Level 4) is designed for experienced electricity supply industry professionals looking to develop advanced capability in fault response and network operations. This qualification builds the skills required to diagnose faults, restore supply, and carry out complex switching on distribution networks, while working safely with limited supervision. Learners can specialise in either Distribution Fault Response or Distribution Network Switching, gaining practical, job-ready expertise aligned with industry standards and best practice. It supports safe, reliable network operation and aligns with the expectations of the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) for competent electrical workers.
