Level 4:
The 24-month Line Mechanic and Cable Jointing qualifications are 6 weeks in total; taught as five 1-2 week block courses over 2 years.

Level 4 New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply (Line Mechanic Distribution)
Provides your staff with the knowledge, practical skills and experience required to gain registration with the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB).
Graduates of this qualification will be able to work safely to industry standards, taking responsibility for their work and that of others, and be capable of working independently whilst ensuring public safety.
Level 4 New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply (Cable Jointing)
Allows your staff to work on cables up to and including 11kV. Registration with the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) is mandatory.
It is suitable for people working on LV and HV cables in the distribution section of the Electricity Supply industry. It is compatible for those starting their career as a cable jointer as well as those in the industry looking to diversify and change their career path.
Graduates will be capable of working safely to industry standards at an intermediate level, and be capable of working without supervision. They may also be responsible for supervising others.
Level 4 New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply (Fault Response and Switching)
Staff who hold a L4 Line Mechanic or Cable Jointing course will typically complete three 5-day block courses; staff who have Electrical Registration but no Unit Standards will typically complete four 5-day block courses.
Staff will complete the core Distribution Network Faults Response courses followed by a strand in either Faults Response or Switching.
Graduates of the Distribution Fault Response strand will be able to apply knowledge of fault finding, and demonstrate the practical skills required to carry out restoration of supply to the distribution networks in the electricity supply network.
Graduates of the Distribution Network Switching strand will be able to apply knowledge of complex network switching to work on distribution networks.
Level 3 New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply (Utility Arborist)
Provides your staff with practical skills, experience and attributes to perform utility arboriculture while maintaining industry best practice.
